Born in Merida, Venezuela, María Isabel Khote graduated from Our Lady of Fatima High School. She worked with the Warao Indigenous Community in the Venezuelan Amazon. In 1988, she left for Cuba to study film, graduated and returned to Venezuela to work in the Film Department of the University of the Andes, Mérida. She has been married to Nihal Khote from India for 17 years and has 3 children, Gitanjali 16, Nihal O. 14, and Priyanka 8. She emigrated with her family to the United States 11 years ago and through the years of living as an immigrant became involved in work with immigrants and disadvantaged and needy families. Her goal in life is to serve the community and to provide access to available resources for all families and educate people about their rights and responsibilities as parents and citizens. She uses her bilingual skills to enhance communication between languages and cultures.
Maria holds many professional certifications and has had various work experiences which enable her to be an effective educator who contributes greatly to the City of Dalton and Whitfield county.
